Who is Davey PTO?
Every Adult family member, guardian and staff member is a part of the Davey Elementary Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). Membership is FREE. Our goal is to promote the welfare of our students at home, in school and in the community. We strive to offer programs and services the help improve the learning environment for our students and their teachers. PTO is here to help all of our students and families.
What does PTO do?
We encourage parent involvement in their children’s lives, education, class & school. Help your child’s class celebrate holidays and participate in classroom projects.
We coordinate programs and projects that support our students’ intellectual and emotional growth. PTO brings outside speakers in for educational assemblies. We raise funds for Smart boards in the classrooms. We also sponsor dances, family movie nights, science fairs, art expos and more.
We raise funds to pay for all of these great projects. PTO raises money in many ways. We have a fall Fundraiser through Market Day. Our Carnival is a fun day and a fundraiser. We are very excited this year to be having a Read-a-thon (more details to come…). We also collect Box Tops, Acme Receipts, Campbell’s soup labels and Target Red Card donations.
Volunteering for Davey PTO
Do a little – Do a lot – Just do something!
Studies have shown that parent involvement in their child’s school can help the overall education of the child. As a member of Davey PTO we are asking each parent or guardian to consider volunteering 2 hours during the school year. We welcome any additional time that you can devote. Many of the jobs we need help with can be done outside of school hours and even outside of the school building. Some examples include:
Baking cookies for the school music programs
Preparing Box Tops to be mailed in for cash for our school
Setting up for the Sock Hop or Carnival
PTO Mythbusters
Myth: The PTO is just for Stay-at-home moms.
Fact: The PTO is for everyone! Our volunteers are mothers, fathers and those who fill those roles. Everyone is welcome and your help is greatly appreciated.
Myth: The PTO has all the help they need.
Fact: The PTO only works if everyone contributes what they can. We need your help!
Myth: PTO Volunteers need to be at the school during the day.
Fact: Much of the PTO work can be done from home on your own schedule, or at events at night or on the weekends. We do need help during the day, but not everyone can help then.
Myth: The PTO has the same volunteers year after year and everyone knows each other.
Fact: While we are fortunate to have dedicated volunteers who return each year we are always excited to have new members. PTO is a great way to meet other parents and learn about our school community.
